Summer Jazz Academy - Novi Sad

This project is part of the collaboration between the twin cities of Novi Sad and Dortmund, which has lasted for over three decades. The Cultural Center of Novi Sad organizes the Summer Jazz Academy in cooperation with the "Isidor Bajić" Music School.

The direct collaboration between the Cultural Center of Novi Sad (KCNS) and jazz artists from Dortmund began with the guest performance of the Glenn Buschmann Jazz Academy Big Band at the Novi Sad Jazz Festival in 2009. The collaboration grew, gaining new content and dimensions, and as a result of the outstanding cooperation with saxophonist and professor at the Glenn Buschmann Jazz Academy, Uwe Plath, who is also the main coordinator along with Professor Igor Molnar from Novi Sad, the Summer Jazz Academy was born. The Summer Jazz Academy Novi Sad – Dortmund was also created in response to the need of young musicians from Novi Sad, jazz musicians in general, to expand their knowledge and skills and to play together. In addition to learning and playing jazz, they form friendships and come up with ideas for joint projects. Over the years, participants in the Summer Jazz Academy Novi Sad – Dortmund have not only included musicians from Novi Sad but also jazz musicians from Dortmund and other cities in Germany and Serbia, giving this collaboration special significance. Thanks to the cities of Dortmund and Novi Sad, as well as other partners and co-financiers, participation in the Summer Jazz Academy is free of charge.
